Fun Stuff Troop 21 Does!

In Troop 21, we do lots of fun things including: Summer Camp, Klondike Camp, Fishing/Canoe Trip, Merit Badge Universities, service projects, and soon a Seabase High Adventure.

At Lake Ozark Scout Reservation Summer Camp, you can earn 2-4 Merit Badges of your choice, go swimming in the Lake of the Ozarks or in the camp pool, learn about sailing, jet skis, hike, fish, canoe, ... There is also a Trading Post where you can get camp T-shirts, delicious slushy drinks and much more camp stuff for you and your friends to enjoy.

The Scouts of Troop 21 also participate in the annual Klondike camp in the winter. There is scavenger hunt where we pull a sled full of winter survival equipment to a certain activity, then receive a clue about the next activity.

Each year in early fall we go on a fun weekend camping trip to fish or canoe. At Halloween we traditionally camp at Ha Ha Tonka State Park for the weekend and just relax.

Each year we go as a Troop to several area Merit Badge Universities. There are so many to choose from that are within a day's drive and Scouts can go to any of them, but we have a few favorites - Rolla, Mizzou, Linn.

Our Troop does quite a few service projects, and each year the list grows. Some of the usual ones are participation in the annual Flag Retirement Ceremony along with the area Veteran's groups, helping at the local parades, outdoor work for our charter organization, adopt-a-highway road cleanup, and helping at other community and area church events.

In the past, we have had groups of Scouts go to Philmont, Big Munson Island-Seabase, and Seabase-Bahamas for the sailing high adventure trip.

To do all these activities and trips, we do our share of fundraising. Besides the Boy Scout popcorn selling and other District/Council fundraising events, each summer we have a food stand at many of the Lake of the Ozarks summer celebrations, like Hot Summer Nights, Magic Dragon Car Show, and the Lake Race. We meet lots of great people visiting the lake area and sometimes work side-by-side with the local police.

Each year brings new fun and adventures. The best part of it all is that we Scouts get to plan it ourselves!

Come join us on Monday nights for our meetings at the Lake Ozark Christian Church on Bagnell Dam Blvd. at 6:30 pm and see what you've been missing!
